Shelby Jean Goodson Cox age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday May 9, 2022 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Cox was born in Galax, Virginia on January 6, 1937 to Claude and Nina Tomlinson Goodson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Scottie Lee Cox and a grandson Jesse Cox.

She is survived by her husband Billy Gray Cox of Galax, Virginia;  daughters and sons-in-law Sherri and Mark Kerns of Montana; Vicky Richardson and Bobby Watson of Galax, Virginia; son Craig Gray Cox  of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Barbara "Polly" and Roger Killon; grandchildren Amber Jones; Summer Kerns; Taylor Kerns; Paul Richardson; Jon Richardson; Heather Cox; David Cox and Jake Cox; sixteen great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; beloved friends and extended family.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Snow Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Ernie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Snow Hill Baptist Church.
