Sarah Opal Bowman's Obituary
Sarah Opal Bowman better known as Opal Bowman age 93 of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Miss Bowman was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 11, 1920 to Lafayette and Lena Martin Bowman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Ocie Bowman Willie and Alene Lyons and a brother John Bowman.
She graduated from high school in 1937. Also, in 1937 she was saved, baptized and then joined the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four sisters Ruby Burcham, Ruth Warf and Mildred Ring all of Fries, Virginia; Carol Gaynell Ball of Melburn, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Smith and Bonnie Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church at Fries. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Mt. Olivet Church Building Fund, C/O Mrs. Mary Ann Taylor, 14 Firestone Road, Fries, Virginia 24330.
