Sadie Gay Combs Schaeffer age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday June 1, 2022 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Schaeffer was born in Carroll County, Virginia on July 27, 1943 to James Arthur and Nettie Mae Combs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Lewis Schaeffer; sisters and brother-in-law Thelma and Carlos Bryant; Wanda Parish; brother James Urles Combs.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael John and Lisa Schaeffer; Randy Lewis and LeAngela Schaeffer all of Galax, Virginia; grandson Ian Michael Schaeffer; brothers and sisters-in-law  Dallas Rudolph Combs of Galax, Virginia; Lones and Helen Combs of Fancy Gap, Virginia; Larry and Sandra Combs of Cana, Virginia; sister-in-law Norma Combs Hale of Galax, Virginia; brother-in-law Wayne Parish of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; brother-in-law and wife Bob and Skip Schaeffer; sisters in-law Georgina Schaeffer and Elaine Schaeffer .

The funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the Midway Baptist Church with Pastor Myron Dalton and Pastor James Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 M until time for the service at the Midway Baptist Church.
