Ileta Ruth Smythers known as Ruth Smythers age 92 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.

Ms. Smythers was born on November 20, 1932 in Galax, Virginia to Walter Painter and Cora Augusta Jones Smythers.

She is survived by her son Butch Sexton of Galax, Virginia; four grandchildren Kevin Sexton; Tia Sexton; Jarrod Sexton and Trista Sutphin; five great-grandchildren Jaden; Blake; Matthew; Kyrie and Jacob; great-great-grandchild Landon; step-daughters and spouse Barbara and David Clements; Susie Waller; step-grandchildren Chass; Cory; Renae; Laura; and Shane.

At the request  of Ruth, her body will be cremated.  There will be no services at this time.
