Ruth E. Sikes age 89 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 in Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Sikes was born on December 17, 1918 in Grayson County, Va. to Joshua & Della Edwards Liddle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Sikes. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Nancy (Janie) Smith of Galax, Va.; Bonna & Larry Beamer of Dublin, Va.; Dianna & Bobby Bowers of Woodlawn,Va.; sisters Hallie Cox and Ruby Sikes both of Galax, Va.; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; special caregivers at home and caring staff of Waddell Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 5,2008 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Vale United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Lindamood, Rev. Hugh Kilgore and Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six eight at Mt. Vale United Methodist Church.
