Ruth Jones Puckett 98 of Galax Va, passed away Thursday July 11 at Commonwealth Assisted Living Home in Hillsville Va, Ruth was born Jan, 15 1921 in Woodlawn Va, to Charles (Charlie) and Maud Norman Jones. Ruth attended Woodlawn Elementary School and Graduated from Woodlawn High School. After graduating Ruth enrolled in a year program at Roanoke College. She married Henry Luther Puckett a Roanoke Policeman and the two established a happy home. Ruth was Preceded in Death by: Her Parents Charlie and Maud Jones, Sister  Myrtle and Brother in-law. Following the death of Ruth's sibling and Brother in-law Ruth and Henry left Roanoke to "parent" their nephews Olen Reid and Roger Boyer.

After the move to Galax,  Ruth became a secretary at Messer Furniture Co. Henry was Appointed Commissioner  of Revenue in the City of Galax. Ruth and Henry Joined First Methodist Church of Galax where they could be counted on in the role of quiet saints; committed disciples of Christ Jesus. Ruth was a lover of Wheel of Fortune and jeopardy as well as crossword puzzles; Ruth was an avid reader. Ruth and Henry were honored and trusted in the community for years by everyone who knew them. Ruth is survived by: Nieces: Shirley Boyer, Carolyn O'Connor, and Nephews: Roger Boyer, Charles and Irene Jones, as well as Cousins: Johnne Beamer, Jim & Sue Patterson , W. George Jones, William B. Jones, Mary Louise Jones Cook

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday July 14, 2019 in the Woodlawn United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2:00 Pm. There will be no visitation at the funeral home
