Whittaker, Russell Caudill, 84, passed away Friday morning at his home in Galax. He was born May 10, 1922 in Giles County to Tracey G. & Lucy E. Thompson Whittaker. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise Whittaker of the home; one daughter Mary Lou Whittaker Hoffman of Prince George, VA; two granddaughters: Tracey Hoffman Lange of Roanoke, Heather Hoffman Galloni of Fort Lewis, Washington; one sister Dorothy W. Johnson of Staffordsville, Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. His parents and a sister Lillian W. Lemons preceded Mr. Whittaker in death.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Galax. The service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA on Tuesday at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Twin County Hospice, c/o Twin County Regional Hospital, 200 Hospital Dr., Galax, VA 24333; First Christian Church, 402 N.
