Russell Thomas Sayers of Roanoke, VA, formally of Wythe County, went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2011. He was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1956. He retired from the Kroger Co. in 1996. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Vaughan Sayers, children - Debbie Glass & husband Henry, Terry Miller & fiancé Steve Minnix, Tammy Dillon & husband Danny all from Roanoke. Grandchildren - Amanda Guthrie, Stephanie Orange & husband Jerry, Tommy Miller Jr, Jared Holland, Brandi Naginey & husband Tim, Danielle Dillon, and Drew Dillon. Great grandchildren - Kayla Guthrie, Cody Orange, Jarrett Guthrie, and Liam Naginey. Brothers & sisters - Donald Sayers & wife Melva, Dorothy Settles, Howard Sayers & wife Shirley, Junior Sayers & wife Sharon, Brenda McRoberts, Shirley Russell & husband Terry, Wanda Hall & husband Rodney, Faye Landreth & husband Robbie.
.The funeral service and burial will be held at Mount Hope United Methodist Church Fries, VA on Saturday January 22, 2011 at 12:00 noon by Pastor Matt Linkous. The family will receive friends from 11:00 Am until service time. Military rites by Grayson VFW Post 7726.
