Rufus Eugene McRoberts better known as Bill McRoberts age 93 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday January 23, 2026 at his home.

Mr. McRoberts was born on October 3, 1932 in Grayson County, Virginia to William Andrew and Martha Norman McRoberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Willard McRoberts.

He proudly served his country in the US Army and served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife Edith Pauline McRoberts of Galax, Virginia; step-children Carolyn Anderson (Will) of Independence, Virginia; Bonnie Anderson of Radford, Virginia; Tina Horton (William) of Galax, Virginia; Johnny Anderson (Ginger) of Dublin, Virginia; several step-grandchildren; several step- great-grandchildren; nieces Lois McRoberts Rogers and fiancé' Scott of Galax, Virginia; Shirl and Rodney Everhart of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two great-nephews Bryan Rogers and Douglas Everhart.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with burial to follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Pastor Tim Christman will be officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
