Rubye Lea Cox Bobbitt age 81 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Bobbitt was born on July 21, 1944, in Virginia to Golden Daniel and Edna Belle Miller Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband P.G. Bobbitt; daughter Natalie Bobbitt; sisters Sylvia Fields; Shirley Worrell and  Kaye Richardson; brothers Robert "Junior" Cox; Kyle Cox and Billy Joe Cox.

Throughout her life, Rubye was always there for her family. She went to school at night while taking care of her young children to receive her bachelor's degree from Radford University and a master's degree from Virginia Tech. She taught at Woodlawn School in Carroll County for 33 years before she retired. She loved her dog, Lakota, walking, gardening, and going to yard sales with her best friend Laura Griffin. She loved her church, Glenwood Methodist along with all of her church family there. She was known for her work at the church and for making the best biscuits around.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy Brannock; grandchildren Chris Warf (Alicia); Candis Brannock; Tiffany Brannock; Ryleigh Kennedy; Madison Kennedy; great-grandchildren Claire Warf; Natalie Warf; Joy Warf; Veda Golding; Tyler Daniels; sister and brother-in-law Sue and Randall Hawks of Fancy Gap, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Ray and Shirley Cox of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Glenwood Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Hessler officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Glenwood Methodist Church.
