Ruby Amburn Snow, age 100, of Axton, Virginia and formerly of Galax, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Martinsville, Virginia. Mrs. Snow was born December 25, 1917 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Guy Saunders Amburn and Arizona Judith Brannock Amburn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Herman Lafayette Snow.
Mrs. Snow was owner of Ken-Kays Health and Beauty Aids Store in Galax with her husband.
She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Jerri and Joe DeVault of Axton, Virginia; Elizabeth and Jeff Mick of Pinehurst, North Carolina; sons and daughter-in-law: Larry and Linda Snow of Draper, Virginia; John Mack Snow of Roanoke, Virginia; grandchildren Andy DeVault, Eric Snow, Taylor Snow, Reid Snow, Megan Ledbetter , Kevin Mick; great grandchildren Isabelle McGrath, Gates DeVault, Owen Snow, Paige Snow, Belle Ledbetter and Sydney Ledbetter.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 12 Noon in the Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Gregory and Rev. Mark Hinchcliff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to either the Oakland Cemetery Fund or to the Oakland United Methodist Church Back-Pack Ministry.
