Ruby Edwards Lawson joined the Church Triumphant on December 8, 2010. She was born on May 9, 1922 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Roby and Lillian Howard Edwards. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her husband, Leamon B. Lawson; daughter, Louise Barbara Lawson; sister, Lucille Hicks; and brother, Roby Edwards, Jr. She is survived by son and daughter –in-law, Leamon Burl and Joyce Lawson, II of Kingsport, TN; and daughter, Jeannie Lawson of Carroll County, VA; five grandchildren, Leamon B. and Susan Lawson, III; Mark E. and Elizabeth Lawson; Sherri and Travis Leming; Jordan Hall; and Jeremy Hall; nine great grandchildren, Grant, Sofia, Isaac, Micah, Lilia and Jackson Lawson; Avery, Parker, and Carson Leming. Sister and brother-in-law Marie and Rev. Wiley Neal and sister Alleen Redd also survive.
She was well known for her long career as an elementary school teacher in Carroll County where she taught for 33 years and positively influenced many students. She was dedicated to her family and assisted her parents and others throughout their lives. She was a long time member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. Services will be at 3 PM at Woodlawn Methodist Church in Woodlawn, Sunday December 12, 2010. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Gloria Lancaster Rhudy will officiate. The final resting place will be at Monta Vista Memory Gardens.
