King Shepherd

Ruby Florence King Shepherd,92, went home to be with Jesus on Mother's Day May 13, 2018.
She loved the Lord and was an example of Christ's Amazing Grace and Love. She loved her family as well as her church family. She sang, played the piano, the organ and the guitar. She had a passion for flowers and Victorian styles.
Ruby was born in Carroll County on May 1, 1926 to the late Percy McPherson King and Mallie Zona Newman. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harley Bolen Shepherd; sisters Claudia Newman King, Amiee Gardella Killiam, Gladys Olene Krall, twin sister Maggie Ruth Jones, Eula Marie Edmonds; brothers Claude Elmer King; and Palmer Carson King; and a grandchild Stacey Lynn Shepherd.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Yvonne Slaughter and Donnie of Willis, Virginia; son David Bolen Shepherd of Radford, Virginia; sister: Zona Gayle Harris of Norfolk, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law: Percy McPherson (Mac) King, Jr. and Barbara of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Also surviving are grandchildren Stephanie Ann Gipple and Mike; Justin David Shepherd; Daniel James Shepherd; Sonya Gautier and Tony; Joshua Slaughter; great grandchildren Emma Blair Shepherd, Cole David Shepherd, James Bolen Gipple and Seth Gautier and several special nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Linkous; Rev. Jeff Wilson; Rev James Cowley and Rev. Gayle Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Felts Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Twin County Home Health & Hospice. The loving compassion, care, and comfort given to our mom was such a blessing.
