Roy W. South age 85 of Galax Virginia passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home.

Mr. South was born on March 20, 1933 in Carroll County, Virginia to Preston and Edith Smith South.

He is survived by his wife Jessie Lowe South of Galax Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Marlene and Brother Garry Adams of Galax, Virginia; Janice and E.R. Watson of Elk Creek, Virginia; son Michael South of Galax, Virginia; four grandchildren and spouses Matthew and Tiffany Adams; Jenny Watson and J.P. Roop; Roger and Kristy Watson; Aaron and Katie  Adams;  four great-grandchildren Eli Watson; Cooper Adams; Jensen Adams and Perry Adams; sisters and brother-in-law Pauline Burcham; Irene Shupe; Norene and David Long all of Galax, Virginia; brother-in-law and wife Don and Rhonda Lowe of Woodlawn, Virginia; sister-in-law Marie Norman of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Brother Garry Adams and Pastor Ernie Smith  officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
