Roy Lee Shaffer age 69 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 15,2009 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mr. Shaffer was born on January 8, 1940 in Grayson County, Va. to James Walter & Mary Sexton Shaffer. In addition to his mother Mary Shaffer of Galax, Va. he is survived by his wife Anna Shaffer of Galax, Va.; daughter & fiance' Judy Meyer & Dennis Tilley of Galax, Va.; son & fiancee' Roy Shaffer, Jr. & Debra Dalton of Woodlawn, Va. son James Shaffer of Galax, Va.; grandchildren & spouses Alferd J. & Amber Myer; Christopher L. & Sara Myer; Ethan P. Tilley; Andrew, Brittany & Travis Shaffer; Billy & Candace Dudley; great-grandchildren Arieana Meyer; Josh Myer and Dominic Dudley; special friend Karen Shaffer; sixteen sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Brother Titus Anderson and Rev. Joe Tolley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
