Roy Boyd Lineberry age 91 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mr. Lineberry was born on September 27, 1923 in Cliffview, Virginia to Boyd and Nora Moore Lineberry. He began working at the Galax Gazette at the age of 16 until he entered the Army Air Force World War 11 as an airplane mechanic. He served on Iwo Jima and Saipan. Just a few days before he left to serve, he married Dorothy Virginia Poe Lineberry. To this union was born two children, Bob & Kathy, He loved to hunt and enjoyed farming. He owned and operated Gazette Press Printing for 52 years,
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Poe Lineberry; four sisters, Lola Mae Melton, Perry Lee Worrell, Obedia Rector and Alma Jones; one brother, Joe Lineberry.
Left to cherish his memory are one son & daughter-in-law, Bob & Betty Lineberry, one daughter & son-in-law, Kathy & Gary Patton; three grandchildren, Delesha Koger & husband, JD, LeShanna Hill & husband, Michael and Justin Patton; one step-grandson, Marty Rector and fiancée, Joyce Newell, her son Morgen; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Koger; one step-great-grandson, Cory Rector; one sister and brother-in-law, Alice & Edward Burcham; several nieces & nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Entombment will follow in the Monta Vista Mausoleum with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
