Roy Dale Hampton, Sr. age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in the Smyth County Community Hospital.
Mr. Hampton was born in Carroll County, Virginia, the Coal Creek Community on May 28, 1926 to Everette and Ruby Roberts Hampton.
He is survived by his wife Juanita Smith Hampton of Galax, Virginia; daughter Betsy Hampton Harrison of Galax, Virginia; son Roy Dale Hampton, Jr. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two grandchildren Garrett Hampton Harrison of Greenville, Tennessee and Brandon Scott Hampton of King, North Carolina; two great-grandchildren Caleb John Snider and Aaron Scott Hampton; brother E.C. Hampton, Jr. of Walkertown, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday April 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Galax City Cemetery with Pastor Ernie Smith officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
