Roy Lee Fender, age 81 of Sparta, N.C. passed away Tuesday at the Alleghany Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Mack H. & Clarice Edwards Fender. He was also preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Fender. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Higgins Fender of the home, daughters & sons-in-law Pam & David Brown of Morganton, Donna "Dottie & Bob Osborne of Roanoke, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Mike & Brenda Fender of Hendersonville, three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Chapel in Sparta, N.C. with burial to follow in Sparta Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Friday at the funeral home and other times at the home at 270 Little River Drive, Sparta, N.C..
