Rose "Marie" Cassell, age 90, of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday November 7, 2021 in the Galax Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Cassell was born on March 16, 1931 in Fries, Virginia to Ervin and Lydia Hale Underwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cassell; daughter Pamela Chappell and several siblings.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sharon S. & Ralph Lineberry of Woodlawn, VA; son and daughter-in-law John W. & Kristen Smith of Sylva, NC; sister Gladys Shupe of Woodlawn, Virginia; grandchildren John William Smith, II; Jadden Wesley Smith; Allie Christine Smith; Zoey Danielle Smith; Dennis Wayne and Kimberly Lineberry; two great-grandchildren Jacob Tyler Lineberry and Kelsie Grace Lineberry; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Jim Longest officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
