Rosa Lee Newman, 79, of Galax passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 in the Twin County Regional Hospital. Rosa was born October 22, 1936 in North Carolina to Morgan and Eunice Galyean Tompkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Archie Ray Newman and son Bobby Newman.

She is survived by daughter Tammy Newman of Woodlawn, Virginia; sons and daughter Billy Ray Newman and Wanda of Galax; Ronnie Newman of Fries; Garry Newman of Galax; grandchildren and spouses: Kristy and Kevin Hooven, David Newman, Kandice Newman, Cavin Newman and Jennifer, Taylor Crouse, and Lucas Newman; six great grandchildren; sister Reva Williams of Independence; brother and sister-in-law: Donald Tompkins and Laura Jean of Galax; special friend Brandi Sumner.

The funeral service will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Harrison and Rev. Jeff Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Creek Cemetery in Ennice, North Carolina. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
