Ronnie Joseph Sawyers, age 64, of Galax, VA, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, VA.

Ronnie was born September 9, 1950 in Mt. Airy, NC to Joseph Eldridge and Mildred Johnson Sawyers. His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Kevin Sawyers, Fries, VA; sister & spouse, Meta & P.J. Smith, Sylvatus, VA; brother and spouse, Larry A. & Darlene H. Sawyers, Fries, VA.; several nieces & nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 1:00 PM in the Fries Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home, Galax, VA. The body will lie in state one hour preceding the funeral service on Tuesday at the church. Officiating minister will be the Rev. John Williams.
