Ronald Joseph Fortner, Sr. age 65 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Ronald was born on July 5, 1949, in Galax, Virginia to the late Howard Bishop and Myrtle Gallimore Fortner.

He honorable served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his entire work career doing plumbing, heating, and cooling work and he was an avid Nascar and football fan.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and Brian Warner; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Kathy Fortner; three beautiful grandchildren, Dakota, Dalton and Delaney Warner; brother and sister-in-law Ken and Rachel Fortner, niece and husband Cindy & Rob Woods; a nephew and wife Greg and Terri Fortner; great-niece Meredith Woods and a great-nephew Kenny Woods.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
