Roger "Tater" Dwayne Johnson (better known as Shashaw), 49, of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday February 22, 2019. Shashaw was born Friday February 13, 1970 in High Point, North Carolina to Carl Douglas Johnson and Herbert Marie Holyfield. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by brother Timmy Littleton and sister Rhonda Elkins.

Shashaw is survived by his wife Trish Gail Johnson of Fries, Virginia; father and step-mother Carl and Emma Johnson of North Carolina; daughter Chassidy Ann Johnson and son Timothy Dwayne Johnson; grandchildren Lukas Jeremiah Johnson, Brody Lane Patton, and Eli Giuseppe Johnson, all of Galax, Virginia. Also surviving are sisters and spouse Renee Lassiter of Fries, Virginia, Jessica and Scotty Brewer of North Carolina; brothers and spouses Jeff and Cindy Johnson of Fries, Virginia, Nikky and Chastity Johnson, Shannon Johnson, all of North Carolina. Surviving nieces and nephews include Alicia Jeffery, Ashley Rich, Aaron Johnson, Tamara Elkins, Tonya Elkins, Brad Elkins, and Bryan Elkins.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday February 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with William Greer officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday February 27, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
