Roby Lawrence McMillan age 89 of East Bend, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his home in East Bend.

Mr. McMillan was born in Carroll County, Virginia on September 28, 1928 to James Lawrence and Bessie Ethel Alley McMillan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Hill McMillan.

He joined the Navy in 1948 and served until his discharge in 1952. He served aboard the Wallace L. Lind (DD-703) and the USS Chauncey (DD-667)

He was a master mechanic and was retired from Fairfax County Equipment Management Transportation Agency as a senior supervisor. He loved traveling, going to the beach, Nascar racing and old cowboy movies.

He is survived by his partner Dorothy Driver of East Bend, North Carolina; daughter Jo Anne Hicks of Sterling Heights Michigan; son and daughter-in-law Dwain and Toni McMillan of Fairfax, Virginia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Jay Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
