Robert Lee Patton age 83 of Galax, Virginia and Brandon, Florida passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Patton was born in Galax, Virginia on March 30, 1935 to Elbert and Sarah Bartlett Patton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters Brook Coleman, Hattie Coe, Bertha Patton and Evelyn Toliver, four brothers Frankie Patton, Howard Patton, Grady Patton and Jack Patton; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Robert enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. He and Glola had driven their motor home to visit every state in the United States except Hawaii and Alaska. He spent the winters in Florida where he enjoyed the warmth and sunshine. Robert was a good husband, friend and neighbor and will truly be missed.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Glola Alley Patton of the home; his daughter Teresa Lynn Patton and companion Buck Viars of Dobson, North Carolina; four grandchildren Timothy Brannock of Dobson, North Carolina; Hector Carranza of Galax, Virginia; Lucia Carranza of Dobson, North Carolina; Cesar Carranza and wife Samantha of Elkin, North Carolina;  nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and special canine companion Dusty also survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Chris White and the Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
