Robert Marion Nelson, Sr. age 67 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, October 8, 2007 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Nelson was born March 30, 1940 in Surry County, N.C. to Roby Marion & Elizabeth York Nelson. He is survived by his wife Betty Sue Nelson of Galax, Va.; daughters & son-in-law Teresa Sue Holiday and Lisa Melton both of Galax, Va.; Shelia & Johnny Thompson of Independence, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Robert & Joyce Nelson of Hillsville, Va.; sisters & brothers-in-law Rita & Gene Snow; Glenda Marion all of North Carolina; Faye & Roger Midcliff of Dugspur, Va.; Kaye & Bill Holdaway of Cana, Va.; brothers & sisters-in-law James & Mildred Nelson; Roger Nelson all of Galax, Va.; Dewey Nelson of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 3:00 PM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Myron Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
