Robert Carter Montgomery age 78 of Hillsville, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Montgomery was born in Carroll County, Virginia on November 30, 1935 to Paul and Lavonia Jennings Montgomery. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edna Mae Hawks Montgomery; sisters and brother-in-law Pauline and Lonnie Frazier; Maudine Dunseth and brothers Don Montgomery and Lewis Montgomery.

He is survived by his children and spouses Thomas Reed and Dreama Montgomery of Wytheville, Virginia; Sandra Ann and Vince Jones of Perryville, Maryland; Sharon Kay and Michelle Hancock of Jupiter, Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law: Sue McMillian and husband Gilmer of Vinton, Virginia; Mary Brown and husband Bob of Hillsville, Virginia sister-in-law Patsy Montgomery of Galax, Virginia; brother-in-law Bruce Dunseth of Orange Park, Florida; several nieces & nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior the funeral service.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Ken Pack, 1st Sergeant McCall Virginia State Police, staff at Twin County Regional Hospital, Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center, Wythe Community Hospital, Princeton Healthcare, Carroll County Sheriff's Department, Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and all others who have helped with Dad in anyway.
