Robert Howard (Bob) Stetler, MD (Retired) of Galax, VA passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Dr. Stetler was born February 14, 1954 in Charlotte, NC. He was predeceased in death by his mother Bea Stetler Leslie and father John Howard Stetler both of Charlotte, NC.

He is survived by sons Eric B. Stetler, PhD of Gainesville, FL and Phil A. Stetler, DO of Toledo, OH and their mother Susan Escue Stetler of Daytona Beach, FL; sister Kate (Richard) Holgate of Sarasota, FL. He is also survived by his former wife Beverly Stepp-Rener of Manassas, VA, companion Carmen Black of Galax, VA as well as untold friends, former patients and lots and lots of soccer players.


Bob attended Independence High School, Charlotte, NC and graduated from Garinger High School in 1972. He attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from Bowman Gray Medical School in Winston-Salem, NC 1979. Bob began his surgical practice in Mocksville, NC and retired from Blue Ridge Surgical in Galax, VA in 1999.


Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel.
