Robert Duane Hansen age 78 of Fries, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center in Independence, Virginia.

Mr. Hansen was born in Trenary, Michigan on September 14, 1939 to Ralph and Genevieve Kelly Hansen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Ray Kauffman.

He is survived by his wife Ann Fielder Hansen of Fries, Virginia; daughters Julie King of Galax, Virginia; Lori Hansen of Greensboro, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law Stephen and Andrea Hansen of Roanoke, Virginia; Mark and April Hansen of Oscoda, Michigan; sister Jean Lee of Loudon, New Hampshire; brother and sister-in-law Donald and Dorothy Hansen of Marquette, Michigan; special sister-in-law and husband Becky and Roger Manuel of Fries, Virginia; eight grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Richard Farmer officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Fries Rec Center P.O.
