Robert Odell Hampton, age 93, of Galax, VA died Saturday, May 22, 2010 in the Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, VA.
Mr. Hampton was born March 9, 1917 in Grayson County, VA. His parents were Thomas Mitchell and Clyde Rector Hampton.
He is survived by wife, Thelma Ruth Hash Hampton, Galax, son, David M. Hampton, Galax, granddaughter, RuthAnn H. Leagans, Fries, great-grandchildren, Brittany C. Lowe and Kyla B. Lowe, sister, Elizabeth Manus, Galax and several nieces & nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM. in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Tuesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Sam Bartlett. Military rites will be held by the Grayson VFW Post #7726 and rites by the Galax Moose Lodge #733.
