Robert Sidney Combs age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday,January 3, 2012 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mr. Combs was born on September 16, 1923 in Carroll County, Virginia to Clayton and Ione Stockner Combs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Becky Parish and a brother Earl Combs.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Combs of Galax, Virignia; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Kenny Ross of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Judy Combs of Radford, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Pearl and J.C. Lowe of Galax, Virginia; brother Carli Combs of Spencer, Virginia; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special family friends Keith and Sherry Parish.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Callahan and Pete Killon officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Friday morning from ten until time for the funeral service at the church.
