Rev. Robert L. Cassell age 90 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born on December 9, 1917 in Virginia to James & Laura Adams Cassell.
Rev. Cassell was ordained into the First Baptist Church on September 13, 1959. He is survived by his wife Marie Underwood Cassell of Galax, Va.; daughter & son-in-law Sandra & William Carter of Mt. Airy, N.C.; son & daughter-in-law Robert Lee Cassell, Jr. & Brenda of Winston-Salem; step-children & their spouses Sharon & Ralph Lineberry of Woodlawn, Virginia; John William & Kristy Smith of Sylvia, N.C.; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, 2008 at 3:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Winford Hendrix and Rev. Claxton Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
