Rita Goad Edwards of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Virginia to Marion and Mary Cox Goad. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ornan Edwards.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Elizabeth Edwards of Danville, Virginia; Mary and Roger Maines of Sparta, North Carolina; grandchildren and spouses Cheri and Kris Poston, Kelly and Matt Bryan, Beth and Matt Hines and Robin Maines; great-granddaughter Sarah Bryan; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
