Richard Dale Porter age 68 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in the New River Valley Medical Center.
Richard was born in Carroll County, Virginia on July 16, 1944 to Raymond and Martha Miller Porter.
In addition to his mother and step-father Martha and Carl Anderson he is survived by his daughter Cindy Pugh; son and daughter-in-law Nathan and Lynn Porter all of the Pipers Gap Community; grandchildren and spouse Lauren Pugh; Brittany and Robbie Felts; great-grandchild Alexis Felts all of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Lois and David Wilson of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; his best friend Jutta Green of Radford, Virginia..
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Galax Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Titus Anderson and Rev. Russell Austin officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from six until eight at the Galax Church of God of Prophecy. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Galax Church of God of Prophecy Building Fund.
