Richard Lee Melton

Richard Lee Melton age 71 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at his home.

Richard was born in Galax, Virginia on November 22, 1954 to Lewis and Nancy Wilson Melton.

In addition to his mother Nancy Wilson Melton, he is survived by his wife Sharon Melton; daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Justin Stamper; son and daughter-in-law Mitchell and Candace Melton; brother David Melton all of Galax, Virginia; sisters-in-law and spouse Glenda and Delbert Dunford; Wanda Cline; three grandchildren Eli Stamper; Cooper Melton and Virgil Sizemore; special nephew Lukas Johnson; several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM in the Fairlawn Church of Christ with Minister Kent Allender and the Rev. Scott Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Fairlawn Church of Christ.
