Richard Sheldon Leonard, 44, of Cedar Grove Church Road, died on Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his residence. Born in Grayson County, Virginia, on May 17, 1965, he was the son of David O. and Betty Jo Smith Leonard of Galax, Virginia. He was an auctioneer in auto sales and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife, Sandra Leonard, of the home; a brother, Jack Leonard of Fries, VA; a sister, Katrina Lynn (Patrick) Holbrook of Collinsville, VA; 2 stepdaughters, Sabrina Wright and Felecia Lewis, both of Mocksville; 6 grandchildren and several cousins and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Tammy Jo Leonard.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Leonard Memorial United Methodist Church, Galax, VA with Rev. Robert Garrett and Rev. Rodney Christman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Independence Lodge #129. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until service time at the church.
