Richard James Burnette age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, April 15,2010 in Waddell Nursing Home.

Mr. Burnette was born in Carroll County, Va. on March 25, 1932 to Walter James & Sophia Hawks Burnette. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Regina Burnette.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn Isom Burnette; daughter & son-in-law Becky & Randy Cox; grandson Daniel Cox all of Galax, Va.; sister & brother-in-law Frances & Dick Hauser of Concord, N.C.; sister-in-law Shelby Burnette of Galax, Va.; several nieces & nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Ron Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
