Retha Geneva Carico's Obituary
Retha Geneva Carico, 95, formerly of the Fairview Community, passed away Saturday September 10, 2011 at the Waddell Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Galax.
Mrs. Carico was born March 12, 1916 to Charles & Della Edwards Higgins in Alleghany County, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerome Carico.
Mrs. Carico is survived by her daughter & son-in-law: Sidna McKaughan and Ted of Forest Hill, Maryland; son & daughter-in-law: Charles C. Carico and Norma of Galax; two grandchildren Bridget Kern of Gray Court, South Carolina and Jeff McKaughan of Forest Hill, Maryland; four great grandchildren Patrick Gentry, Stephanie McKaughan, Allyson McKaughan and Joseph Kern. Many thanks to her long time caregiver, Ann Wright.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 12, 2011 from 12 noon until 1:30 PM at Vaughan-Guynn. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM at the Edmonds Cemetery, Route 18, Ennice, North Carolina with Rev. Jeff Callahan officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Edmonds Community Cemetery, 215 Crestview Lane, Ennice, North Carolina 28263 or the Savannah United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. Jeff Callahan, 3350 Meadow Creek Road, Galax, VA 24333.
