R.B. "Pete" Richardson's Obituary
R.B. "Pete" Richardson age 91 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 in the Wheatland Retirement Center.
Mr. Richardson was born in Smyth County, Virginia on April 22, 1923 to Frank and Mary Belle Bourne Richardson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Iris Richardson.
He proudly served our country in the US Navy.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law Susan Kirkland of Galax, Virginia; Diane R. and Richard Webb of Hillsville, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Hollye and Jeff Moser; Todd and Kathy Kirkland; Carrie and Greg Worrell; Jill and Charles Campbell; Andrew Bobbitt; great-grandchildren and spouses Ryan and Carissa Rios; Nicolas and Kelly Moser; Jordan Worrell; Kalley Kirkland; Bryce Kirkland; Mallorie Moser; Calvin Campbell; Carli Campbell; one great-great-grandson expected arrival date 1-2015; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Hillsville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Smith and the Rev. Pam Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 356, Hillsville, Virginia 24343 or to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 1477 Carrollton Pike, Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
