THE FOLLOWING IS A COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE BYRD FAMILY:

Raymond Eugene Byrd Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 10, 1943, to the late Gladys Farmer Byrd and Oscar Ranard Byrd, Raymond was a devoted husband to Mrs. Linda Reeves Byrd for many years.

Raymond was of the Christian faith and attended River Oak Church of God. Known as a "Jack of All Trades," he had a remarkable ability to fix anything. His career spanned 20 years as a bus driver for Trailways and another 20 years working for Dr. Albert Payne before retiring.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Raymond Eugene Byrd Jr. and wife Michelle of Sanford, NC; his daughter, Anthea Byrd of Danville, VA; his brother, Bobby Byrd and wife Shirley of Galax, VA; his granddaughter, Hannah L. Brown and husband Hunter; and his two great-grandchildren, Easton Brown and Emerson Brown. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, L.C. Patton.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Pauline Patton.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 2:00pm with Pastor Eric Medford officiating at Highland Burial Park. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA is respectfully serving the Byrd family.
