Raymond Nelson Burnett age 95 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at Waddell Nursing Home. Mr. Burnett was born on November 6, 1913 in Carroll County, Va. to William Marshall & Lola E. Walker Burnett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Freda J. Burnett; daughter June B. Howard; sons Claude Wesley (Dub) Burnett and Mac Nelson (Pinky) Burnett. He is survived by his daughters & son-in-law Margaret B. & Von Cheek; Mary Susan Burnett Carico all of Galax, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Richard Charles & Deanna Burnett of Florida; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Cranberry with Rev. Bob Adams officiating. There was no visitation at the funeral home.
