Rayburn Wright Martin, 94, passed away Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax. Mr. Martin was born in Galax on November 16, 1917 to Posey C. Martin and Anna Mae Wright Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jo Quillen Martin and daughter Jean Hurt, sisters Euna Lee Hartsock, Alene Sprinkle; brothers Reiford Martin, Raymond Martin, Harry Conley Martin.

Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter & son-in-law: Sharon & Larry Blevins of Herndon, Virginia, two sons & daughter-in-law: Jim Martin of Galax, Virginia; Ron & Raiza Martin of Big Canoe, Georgia; son-in-law: Frank Hurt of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one sister Iris Harris of Gaithersburg, Maryland; grandchildren Reese Martin, Evans Martin, Anna Winter, Keith Martin, Heather Pyles, Ken Hurt , Kendall Hurt, Leigh Toweson and Erin Blevins. Eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Felts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time for the service.
