Ray Daniel Mabe, age 79, of Galax, Virginia died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Golden Living-Blue Ridge Nursing Home, Galax, VA.

Mr. Mabe was born April 9, 1933 to
Isaac Manuel and Bessie Shepherd Mabe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Christine Mabe and brothers, Walter Mabe, Billy Mabe, James Mabe, John Mabe and sister, Pauline Mabe.

Mr. Mabe served in the Air Force from the year of 1951 until 1972. He retired as Personal Director, Noland Company, in Newport News, VA (1972-1989).

He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Rebecca Mabe, Wake Forest, NC and Michael Mabe, Winterhaven, Florida; sister, Betty Hines, Galax, VA; grandchildren, David & Mary Ann Mabe, Seattle, WA, Monica Mabe, Raleigh, NC, Megan Mabe, Wingerhaven, FL and Matthew Mabe, Winterhaven, FL. Two nephews and one niece, also, survive.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mabe Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for the funeral service on Wednesday. The Rev. Gloria Landcaster Rhudy will be the officiating minister and military rites will be performed by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
