Obituary

Raby Curtis Watson, age 86, of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday March 19, 2021 in Lewis Gale Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Curtis  was born in Grayson County, Virginia on January 14, 1935 to Raby and Willie Akers Watson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life Alice Fling Watson; sisters Lois Vaughan, Jackie Whitney, Bonnie Jones; and brothers Bud Watson, Joe Watson, and Jerry Watson.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Mandi and Tim Pickett of Rural Retreat; sons and daughter-in-law Steve and Melissa Watson of Draper, Rick Watson of Fries; grandchildren Will and Lacey Pickett, Wyatte Pickett, Dillon and Margo Watson, Devin Watson; great-grandchildren Teagan Pickett, Harper Pickett, Henely Pickett, Wentz Pickett, Cadence Watson, and Oliver Watson. Also surviving are brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Sue Watson of Galax, Chip and Della Watson of Elk Creek, Peco and Pat Watson of Galax, Randy and Linda Watson of Carsonville; and brothers-in law and sisters-in-law John and Judy Fling, Linda Cooley Watson, and Nancy B. Watson.

The graveside service will be held Tuesday March 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Alderman officiating. There will be no visitation. The family has requested casual dress for the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cold Springs United Methodist Church.
