Plina Lucille Cole Smith age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday February 2, 2023 in the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was born in Grayson County, Virginia on  June 28, 1934 to Charlie Reeves and Virginia Faye Eller Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Wayne Smith;  a daughter Phyllis Angela Smith; sister Hazel Cole Bonham; brothers Daniel Glen Cole and Bobby Steele Cole.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Patsy and Roscoe Davis of Galax, Virginia; granddaughter and husband Emily and Corey Glessner of Roanoke, Virginia; grandson and fiancée Adam Blevins and Katlin Snider of Galax, Virginia; three great-granddaughters Adrienne, Lillian (Lily) and Melody Glessner; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Dean Hackler of Independence, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Chester and Beverly Cole of Marion, Virginia; Gary and Becky Cole of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; Gayle and Nancy Cole of Alta Vista, Virginia; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousin Geneva Shaw and a special friend Laura Estelle Fishel.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
