Phoebe Hallie Cox age 98 of Galax, Virginia passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Cox was born in Grayson County, Virginia on April 20, 1912 to Joshua Burton and Lucie Edwards Liddle. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Everette Cleve Cox; son Dennis Cox; granddaughter Leisa Shepherd and great-grandson Chad Kirby.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sylvia and Pete Killon; Shirley and Buck Burcham; Joann and Jim Jennings all of Galax, Virginia; sister Ruby Sikes of Galax, Virginia; granddaughters and spouses Donna and John Snyder; Lydia and Hal Sutphin; Vicki and Mike Myers; Heather and Avery Brown; grandsons and spouses Mike and Myra Kirby; Derrick and Crystal Cox and Cody Cox; several nieces and nephews and special caregivers; special friend Zena Rhudy.
The funeral service will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Callahan and Rev.Hugh Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until service time at Mt. Vale United Methodist Church.
