Philip Willie Leath age 44 of Halifax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at his home.
Born on August 18, 1975, he was the son of Doug and Georgia Hooven of Galax, Virginia, who survive.
Philip grew up in Galax, Virginia where he still enjoyed spending a lot of his time hunting and fishing. Philip was an avid hunter and fisherman. Philip had previously been employed with the Virginia State Police where he served his community for almost 20 years. He attended the South Boston Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his half-brother Alan Hooven; his maternal grandparents Haswell and Mary Leath and paternal grandparents William Emory and Fredith Price Hooven.
In addition to his parents, Philip is survived by his son, his pride and joy Trevor Leath and a step-daughter Alex Hopkins; uncles Larry and Loretta Leath; Randy Leath and several cousins.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Wayne Daniels officiating. Entombment will follow in the Monta Vista Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
