Peggy Hill
Funk
August 11, 1941 – September 2, 2024
Peggy Earlene Hill Funk entered her Heavenly home on the morning of September 2, 2024.
Peggy loved her family with her whole heart, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys in life. She lived a life dedicated to teaching and nurturing children spending many years as a beloved educator at Sheffey Elementary, Providence Elementary and Fries Middle Schools. Even after her retirement, Peggy continued to serve children by working as a substitute in school cafeterias.
Peggy was born on August 11, 1941, in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Roy and Ethel Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Funk; her brothers, Charles Hill and Clarence Hill; her grandson, Brock Funk; and her great-granddaughter, Atley Funk.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Tiny and Roxanna Funk of Fries, Virginia; Michael and Rene Funk of Galax, Virginia; her granddaughter Megan Collins (Mark) of Galax, Virginia; and her granddaughter-in-law Terri Anne Funk of St. Paul. She also leaves behind her brother Speck Hill (Shirley) of Fries, Virginia; three great-grandchildren Zeke Funk; Zoey Funk and Odin Collins; two grandchildren Allen Anders (April); Nick Barr; three great-grandchildren Trent Anders; Conner Anders and Nathan Anders.
In addition to her family, Peggy is survived by special friends Linda Lake, Connie Lambert and Jackie Lambert, as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Jeff Wilson, Rev. Myron Dalton and Terri Ann Funk officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the church.
