Obituary

Pearl Arizona Burcham Bartlett age 92 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away at her home Wednesday June 15, 2022.

Pearl was born December 18, 1929, to her parents the late Wesley Roosevelt and Maude Arlene Edwards Burcham of Woodlawn, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Loke Bartlett, son Jansen Loke, sister Kathleen Riddle, brothers Carnie, Mack, Friel, Bobbie and infant twin brothers Barney Ray and Barnard Fay.

Pearl was a member of the Forest Oak Christian Church. She was One of A Kind labor and delivery nurse for over forty years. Pearl worked at Waddell Hospital and Twin County Community Hospital serving the community. She was known as the Baby Rocking Nurse. She loved the babies with great passion and enjoyed taking care of the patients. Pearl always cared about others more than herself. She would do anything to help someone. She loved flowers, birds and the color red.

She is survived by her son Layne Bartlett of Woodlawn, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Claudia Richardson of Woodlawn Virginia; Robin and Boo Manuel of Hermitage, TN; Christy and Wiley Williams of Greenville TN.; sister Florence Lawson of Galax Va.; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; daughters-in-law Joyce Bartlett of Cana, Va. and Debbie Bartlett of Pilot Mountain, NC.

The funeral service will be held Monday June 20 th at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Butch Isom and Preston Manuel officiating. Burial will follow in the Crooked Creek Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5;00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Crooked Creek Cemetery Fund, C/O Laura Griffin, 399 Millstone Road, Woodlawn, VA. or the Forest Oak Christian Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Twin County Community Hospital and Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care during her recent illness.

Pearl deeply loved her family, friends and all those who served in the military.  She touched so many people's life with her love and kindness.
