Pauline Parks
Brooms
March 4, 1932 – July 25, 2025
Pauline (Polly) Parks Brooms, Fries, made her long-awaited home-going on Friday, July 25th, 2025, in the presence of her daughter and son.
Polly was born on March 4, 1932 to Garnet Heelmore Parks and Eliza Caroline (Patton) Parks. Her parents preceded her in death, along with siblings William (Porky) Parks, Katie Mae Akers, Linna Anders, Nellie Spencer and Willie Rose Sizemore, and a sister who died as an infant, as well as her husband Ottis Ray Brooms, sons William Roy (Junebug) Brooms, Kenneth Ralph Brooms, and Betty Sue (Roger) Price. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law who she cherished, Denny Ivan Slate.
She leaves her children Lily Slate, and Denny (Cindy) Brooms, six grandchildren and numerous great and double-great grandchildren to mourn.
She was a loving, Godly woman who loved her family with all her heart, and that is a lot of love.
She told us that dad moved into the boarding house in Fries, and one day in 1947 he saw her sitting on her father's porch swing and stopped his car, leaned over, and told her he would be back in a little while and for her to stay "right there". She said if he hadn't drove back by later she would still be sitting there waiting for him. They shared 59 years together, and I never heard them have an argument. I did hear an occasional curt response or a spirited debate, but their love was true, and they believed in each other. The best we can hope for as children is to be more like her.
She was quick-witted, patient, humble, kind, and had the ability to see people as they could be, and not as they sometimes were. She was the most soft-hearted person I have known, and firm in her beliefs. Above all she was our darling mother.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 12:00 PM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with the Pastor Tony Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time for the service at the Fries Church of God of Prophecy.
